Heres the radical random truth for today: I may be totally alone in this one, but, I think the recent love fests for the Boston PD and their response to last years bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon are fluffy, ill-deserved, hogwash being heaped on a police force that had the perpetrators within their grasp and failed to secure the area thereby allowing them to escape. Israeli security forces lock down the immediate area of a bombing or other terrorist incident under the theory that the perpetrators must be proximate to the scene of the bombing in order to detonate the explosive device. Did no police office notice that everyone - that is E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E was running toward the site of the explosion except two people who were smiling wildly as they ran full out in the other direction? I know the Boston PD did a great job managing and responding to those injured on scene but did the Boston PD have any protocol or plan for securing the area and apprehending the perpetrators? Evidently not. A pox on them. Time to stop fawning over them and start asking hard, critical questions about the response of the Boston PD in the area of locking down the scene and preventing the perps from escaping.
