Himachal Pradesh received the first snowfall of season. Large part of state is under the snow cover. Historically, this region of north-western Himalayas was known for its inaccessible character, difficult life of people and heavy snowfall in winters contributes as another factor. Winter season was a tough time for people and it took more than three months to pass. With the introduction of modern political system or state (Himachal Pradesh in Indian Union), region has developed the modern system of communication (roads, electricity etc.). These developments made this winter season much easy than the earlier times and now every part of the state is accessible even in the winters. After the development of horticulture and tourism sector for the economic gains by the state, Snowfall is much awaited in winters but with the change in climatic conditions of the region has also affected the yearly snowfall.
