Holmesism 1-9-15 Let me preface this by saying that Holmes is athletic. He is also very sensitive, brave and attentive. He is also a five year old, who lives in the present and doesnt quite get everything going on. While we are not hiding anything from him, we are glad that he only focuses on today. So, the other day while at the doctor he was playing with his Incredible Hulk action figure and the model/puzzle of the brain while we were going over his scans. He really wasnt flinching through any of it. He was concerned why we were sad, but kept right on hulk smashing things down. UNTIL, the doc said that he shouldnt play sports. If you know this kid, you know it is what he lives for. It was the first time that it actually clicked that his life was going to be different. He burst into tears, sobbing into my chest. The doc then saw how bad it upset him, so ended up making a deal that he could still play some sports as long as there was no major contact. He promised to be cautious and he was better. Yesterday on our way to school, he said, Mom...it is too bad that this dern tumor didnt go into the brain of a bad guy instead of me. Because if that was the case, then the bad guy wouldnt be allowed to do any crazy contact fighting against the good guys. We would be safer and I could play any sport I wanted.
