Hundreds of thousands have been displaced. I cannot imagine the trauma experienced by those who have fled their homes as a result of the Boko Haram, ISIS and other terrorist organizations. What would it be like to no longer have my walls around me, making me secure? What would it be like to no longer have my neighbors right outside my door ready to help if a need arose? What would it be like to just have the clothes I wore when I ran from my house? And what would it be like to no longer have those items for cooking and living that made my life easier? And what would it be like to no longer have my land under my feet, and my job to support my family? What would it be like to be displaced; to now live among the thousands of others who fled their homes, too? And how would I live with others so closely surrounding me, in my personal space? How devastating it must be. Can you imagine the source of encouragement it might be for that person sitting in the middle of that unbelievable crowd to hold in their hand a Treasure? Can you imagine what it might mean for them to hear in their own language, the Word of God. What message would cling to them as they sit there in their devastation? How anxious would they be for the hope offered therein? My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word! When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes! Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word! Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law! I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me. I cling to your testimonies, O Lord; let me not be put to shame! I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart! Psalm 119 25-32 Yesterdays Post: Our national partner in Nigeria has been in the thick of things as he and his team try to help those traumatized and displaced by the Boko Haram. Please hear his heart. As we move into 2015, we are moving with over 160 staff including those who just completed school of missions. Many will be sent into the fields. We will be training them to save the lives of the internally displaced people. We will design what is to be done to help them accept Christ and live again in new areas with their families. Please pray for these plans. He reports that there are currently the following number of displaced persons in known camps. Please reflect on these numbers and pray for the advancement of the Gospel in these very trying times. 349,547 from the Yola Adamawa State 15,019 from Taraba 360,089 from the Maiduguri Borno State 200,000 from the Damaturu, Yobe State If you would like to get Treasures into the hands of these who are displaced, please find the contact information in the left panel. There is a place for comments that will allow you to inform us of your desire. There is a phone number there also if your would rather call. You can do something to make a difference in their lives.
