Hypothesis for Daniel Hughes past: Was born the base born son of Mary Childers and Solomon Carter. Was bound out according to law in November 1774. Possibly bound out to the Blackmore Hughes family (distant cousins by marriage on Marys side) and his name and date of birth was changed to fit in with existing children. When John/Daniel had a falling out with family, he moved to Russell Co. away from immediate family but with distant kin (Toliver Hughes) and wld explain why the kids dont follow the naming tradition of the Blackmore Hughes family but the Childers family. This is all conjecture and I have no proof. I pray that one day I can travel to Amherst Co. VA where the records originate and all counties Daniel/John would have traveled through on his way to KY (save for Russell Co.)
