I always told Aegis he had to promise me that he wouldnt make me choose the day we said goodbye - that he wouldnt make me take that long awful drive to the vet. Just now, he kept that promise. We had a completely normal day - he had breakfast, dinner, went out the usual number of times, greeted a visitor with the usual enthusiasm. A completely normal day. A few minutes before he left us he was surfing the counter to see what was up there. And right when we sat down to dinner, while he was lying in the kitchen, he attempted to get up, had some trouble standing, laid back down, cried out for a second, and just stopped breathing. I sat with him in his final seconds, petted him and told him what a good boy he was, and how much I was going to miss him. And I will. So very much. Sweet dreams my beautiful best boy. It was a fabulous eleven years. I couldnt ask for a better dog. Ill see you at the Bridge, wait for me there. #aegis #heartbroken
