I am a Land Surveyor/Geomatic Engineer: 100 years to come I was - TopicsExpress

I am a Land Surveyor/Geomatic Engineer: 100 years to come I was sitting at my desk looking at two surveys on an adjoining property that I have conducted. It got me to thinking, how will my surveys be judged in 40 years? What will my fellow surveyors think of my plans 100 years from now? I do wonder how I will be judged by my colleagues 100 years to come. What will they say about me 100 years to come? Keeping these questions at the forefront keeps me on my toes and striving to become better every day. I have done some bad surveys, as we all have. I have also surveyed, prepared and signed many plans that I am proud to be in my name, knowing that the line of no width that we hold out as the boundary is exactly where it was set 100 years ago and where it should be 100 years to come. It reminds me of a poem by W.G. Browne that I memorized and therefore feel like I own. Its last stanza goes like this: We all within our graves shall sleep, A hundred years to come! No living soul for us shall weep, A hundred years to come! But other men our land will till, And others then our streets will fill, While other birds will sing as gay, And bright the sunshine as today, A hundred years to come!
