I am an old man. I am old enough to remember how hated young men - TopicsExpress

I am an old man. I am old enough to remember how hated young men were for fleeing to Canada to avoid being drafted during the doomed Vietnam War. Remember? Remember how we called them traitors and worse? Remember how we said they should not be permitted to return to the United States, ever, for their treasonous behavior? Remember how, at the end of the war, we urged them to come home because all is forgiven. Remember how we came to our senses about that war that was unjust and made a mockery of who we are or should be in America. Well, you should remember because one day soon we will have the good sense, the moral obligation to say to Bergdahl that all is forgiven. And, come home. And, We made a mistake about you and all the other men and women who object to war and especially unjust wars. Oh, that guy McCain? Well, He was off his rocker, out-to-lunch, mistaken. Hell, I dont even remember what he said, do you? So, you see, it isnt that difficult to see the error of your ways. It just takes time. But in the meantime the boys of Canada and the boy, Bergdahl, must suffer for our own mistakes, not theirs.
