I am trying to think of the best way to get through to people some things, which in my opinion are crucial in the upcoming election. I think apathy, and cynicism should be considered our biggest enemies as American voters. I do not know how many times I have heard people say “all politicians are crooks” and similar statements. Well, I have news for you-politicians are no more than a direct reflection of you, because you put them there. Not some big evil corporation, not a lobbyist, not a political action committee-but you. I have never been paid by anyone to vote a certain way, nor have I ever relied on information from campaign ads, nor agenda driven websites. I blame myself as much as anyone though, because I have been guilty of voting for the lesser of two evils, and I have been guilty for decades of focusing on national issues and campaigns, forgetting that the path to there starts right here. If we want leadership with integrity at the national level, then we need to get off of our LAZY asses, and start cultivating them at the local and state level. “That’s why I don’t vote”….perhaps the most pathetic and inexcusable of all. I have another news flash for you. YES YOU DO VOTE. Your absence of voting is a vote for whoever wins-they are your candidate-you are a Butch Otter supporter, if he wins, and YOU are responsible for the prison scandal, people facing jail time for reporting a crime, corruption and cronyism. “A third party candidate can’t win” That’s YOUR fault, if true. I can not even fathom the logic….think about it. Because people like you refuse to vote for a third party candidate, because they “Can’t win,” You are saying, “I refuse to support a candidate because he is not able to get my vote”….???? Let that sink in… Further amazing to me, is that when less than a majority turn out for an election, it can actually be deemed a “strong voter turnout.”….That means over half of you that went through the trouble of registering, don’t bother to vote, not to mention all of the people who don’t even register, and yet drone on about their disgust with the political landscape….your disgust should be with yourself-you gave it to us. Your non-vote is a vote. You have some choices to make for the Governor’s seat in Idaho. You have Butch otter, a proven liar, corrupt, and bought and paid for. You have AJ Balukoff, I think a decent man, but perhaps in over his head, and certainly out of touch with rural Idaho-a rural state. He is simply a predictable set of talking points who’s only answer is to raise taxes and spend more money-and believed that Idaho’s ecosystem was “out of balance” in 1995….? Did you think our ecosystem was out of balance in ’95? Do you think we now have a very costly problem on our hands dealing with the wolf problem and the disingenuous people who brought us the problem, then reneged on the deal, like so many of us knew they would? Now we have to fight court battles with them, and fight court battles fighting gay marriage, all money that could go to schools and roads and more. And you can thank the GOP and Democrats for all of it. You do have one clear choice. There is one candidate, who has taken a stand for integrity, and so, was painted as just the opposite by the powers that be in Idaho, the “Good old Boy” network. As a prosecutor who has put principle over a conviction rate, a problem solver that has saved Canyon county millions through shrewd, effective cost cutting measures, John T Bujak is the only candidate who really has a strong resume when it comes to leadership qualities. Bring a friend to the polls; bring 5 friends to the polls. Don’t let the few decide for everybody else. I dont expect to be able to sway everyone, however I can say that if even the most disinterested voter watches the last debate he would go to the polls. John T. Bujak for governor of Idaho.
