I had a tear in my eye on Christmas Eve as I drove down Wave - TopicsExpress

I had a tear in my eye on Christmas Eve as I drove down Wave Crescent with my family. What a magical place!! It was impossible not to get caught up in the spirit of Christmas. You could really feel it, I didnt want to leave! The lovely residents of Wave Crescent have created something very special! I doubt there is a Torquay resident who doesnt know about it! It is even announced at events such as the Torquay Carols by Candlelight! It was almost 10pm as we did our drive by taking in each and every house, twice! It was a packed, cars everywhere, and the foot paths were lined with families walking, and pointing, and ooohing, and ahhhing! Just perfect! Today, I spotted Jeanette out the front of her home and started to chat to her, but she quickly pointed me in the direction of the man who started it all!! You want Daz from across the road. It was all his idea Apparently, when Daz first moved in, he attended the annual street party and was heard to utter the words! I have bad news for you all, I do Christmas decorations That was 5 years ago, and they havent looked back. Every house bar one was decorated this year, and that was only because they had just moved in, but have assured the street they will happily participate from next year. The decorating fever is truly infectious, there is a house still being built at the end of the street, but the builders have done it proud :) Wave Crescent is a very close knit, award winning street, who do not take no for an answer. Prospective buyers are now well aware of what they may be buying into, as the local real estate agents give them the heads up. All the houses are up and running by Dec 1st, and stay light up until the start of Jan. This year they are fundraising for cancer research with a locked box for donations, which had to unfortunately be changed from merely a bucket! Next year they will raise funds for special needs kids. Daz says that hearing the kids squealing with excitement out of car windows makes it all worthwhile, or seeing a family walking up the street with kids yelling, This is the best one, no this is the best one, no THIS is the best one Daz blames his dad for his obsession as he grew up in a house that was decorated and he has committed to continue the tradition! We will all be back next year, Wave Crescent, to be mesmerised yet again!!
