I has occasion to travel up Chapel Street southward from the Marist towards the Christian Bros school and my God what a bedlam to experience. I felt unsafe as cars buses and lorries attempted to negotiate this dangerous obstacle course safely Alas this monstrosity of ill defined logic was created by the Dundalk Town Council and financed by taxpayers hard earned money. They had a hectic situation on hand with three large schools with pupils emerging onto already busy roads/streets with junctions and to exasperate a very dangerous situation they decided in their wisdom to make more narrow an already narrow road by constructing the seldom used bicycle lanes. This leaves the road so narrow that only one car at a time can continue onwards while the other oncoming traffic have to wait until the road is clear and this is a two way system. It just defies logic and common sense. I challenge all the councillors and TD mentioned to observe this dysfunctional obstruction of an eyesore and declare that it is usable and safe. I think the said councillors should concentrate on putting right what is clearly wrong instead of lobbying for new obstructions in singled out areas in town. D McKevitt.
