I have had a lot of people ask me recently if I am still doing crossfit, if I got an okay from the doctor, and if I am still lifting weight. I have also had numerous people (young and old) tell me I shouldnt be lifting anything over a few pounds, or putting my arms over my head, or jumping, running, stretching, etc. To answer all of these questions, remarks, advice... Yes, I am still doing crossfit, yes, I am still lifting weight and yes, my doctor said this was okay and even encouraged me to continue. I know a lot of people are still used to pregnant women not lifting anything over 5lbs, or doing very little exercise, if any. I have been doing CrossFit for about 3 years now and my body is very used to the intensity, the weight, and the movements. I will not all of the sudden stop moving and being healthy just because I am carrying life in my tummy. I have my doctor and my coaches to turn to if I am questioning what I should or shouldnt be doing. I am not being stupid about it and over exerting myself to the point where i cant breathe or lifting so heavy that i am straining, but I am still doing the WODS (workouts) that most people would find intense. I am scaling/modifying where I and my coaches feel necessary and will continue to do this throught. I have been active my whole life and I know my body very well and know when too much is too much. I also know that the days I do CrossFit I feel much better than the days that I dont. My point is that I feel, and so does my doctor, that doing nothing or only doing the minimal is going to be more devastating to my body than actually working out the way my body is used to. I will not be a couch potato, I want to inspire the athletes that I coach and show them and others that those old wives tales are just that, as long as you are smart about what you are doing. I AM NOT DISABLED I AM JUST PREGNANT 💪👣😊
