I just had a wonderful conversation about our home countries with a good friend of mine from Brazil. She was telling me about how people from outside of the States see us, but also *why* we are seen that way. Ive never heard that spin on it before. I think we all know that weve got a reputation of arrogant entitlement, but it still kind of hurts to hear it put into words. Dont get me wrong, shes certainly not one to stereotype others and nothing she told me was her own opinion, but the fact that its a general consensus just bothers me. Why are so many of us ok with this? Why dont we go out of our way to try to debunk the way the media portrays us? Why dont we, dare I say it, just be good people??
