I know I risk being an over poster with this one as I have already posted today BUT had to show these photos. As per my previous few posts there are HEAPS of sharks in these waters and also quite a few crocs about the shoreline. This evening when we were fishing at the jetty Justins thong went over the edge. We waited for it to float to the other side of the jetty then tried to drop fishing lines down to hook it but it did not work. These thongs were only bought today as he broke his old ones on the morning fish at the wharf. Two local guys saw what we were doing so decided to help out and jumped in the water after it. We just held our breath and waited for the splashing and feeding of the sharks and crocs to begin but they seemingly had a casual swim into shore with his thong which would have been at least 50 meters. When they got the thong back to us they explained that they are not afraid of sharks and have a special swim they do in water with crocodiles. They claim that making a lot of noise scares the crocs away. The two if them jumped for that reason and the slow swim they did was to confuse the croc as to what they were. One was bopping up and down in the water almost like he was trying to touch the bottom and the other kept duck diving. We were of course very grateful for the thong back but for the sake of $20 there would not be enough money in the world to get me to do that. No more than an hour later a guy hooked a lemon shark about 2 or more meters long from the very spot they jumped in, then when leaving the wharf the torch reflected in the eyes of the resident croc. These guys are Thursday Islanders so I supposes they have learnt how to do all that to be able to make use if this water. Seems to work!!!!! Have attached a photo of the guys swimming and a couple of the sunset from the wharf with Liam trying his luck.
