I know many of my fellow nigerians and friends would not like - TopicsExpress

I know many of my fellow nigerians and friends would not like this, but truth must be told. Is it not pathetic that at this stage of world civilisation and educational development, we are looking for a 72 years school cert holder to lead us? that is assuming the person in question holds the certificate all. With all the professors, doctors and even professor emerituses we have in Nigeria, we are still looking for someone who went to elementary school almost during colonial era to solve our 21st century problems, all in the name of change. Is it not shameful that a professor is stooping so low to be a subject to a form six (not secondary school, cos difference exist) certificate holder in this civilised world? Someone who was the president when computer was none existent in nigeria let alone laptops, ipads and ipones, when you hardly could find an analogue phones and cameras let alone digital or smart ones, when there was no CCTV, no television in many homes and so on. If they say he ruled well during his time as a president in the 70s (not led cos that was military so leadership was not in vogue then), that was then and kudos to him but please somebody should not tell me that the principles he used in solving problems at that time can still apply now. Even in the last 10 years alot has changed, let alone 38 years ago and come to think of it, the man in question has never taking any step to update himself till now. This is more like calling on my grand father to come and do the statistical calculations for my masters degree thesis and my question is this, is the problem of this my time same thing as that of my grand fathers?. Again, come to think of it, can military principles work in a democratic setthing? Certainly, no, this is because as a military head, you use the command and control principle (which I acknowledge gets things done quickly) but in a democratic setting, you need to do alot of appeals, consultations and advocacies to enable you carry out one particular project which is why I always argue that development does not take place under democracy. Let this desperation for change not lead us into something else. I agree that Nigeria (my country) has not gotten it right yet, however this backward rulership change many are calling for may not lead us anywhere. I respect General Mohammadu Buhari as a former president of my country even though I wasnt born then, but please tell him for me that I cannot trust my future and that of my unborn children in his hands, not because he is a bad person but simply because the problems of my time is not the same kind he handled during his time and even if they are, the methods he used then can no longer be applied at this time and I have not seen evidence that he has updated his technological knowhow to solve my problems.
