I rarely use this as a platform to post about things like this but all I keep hearing about today somehow is the potential of Apple using their Lightning port for headphones instead of the current 3.5mm analog jack...read my little blog opinion below and then comment if you want; I dont really care. Seriously folks technology is awesome and for it to keep getting better were going to have to change a little sometimes... 1. We do HAVE to advance at some point. We cant forever stay in the past. Weve ditched many many audio technologies (mainly consumer based platforms) to upgrade quality, reliability, etc. In the year 2100 when were all long gone do we really think a 3.5mm ANALOG audio jack will be around? No. Will anything else we spend money on currently and hold dear to our hearts be around? Probably not. HTC, Samsung, Apple, etc their jobs are to push society forward via technology. If they dont do that, they lose market share. When they do, they get consumer push back because the pair of headphones weve used for 8 years that we really like doesnt work anymore. Sorry guys but if Apple doesnt push forward, Sony does or HTC will or Samsung or whomever you want to blame for making technology better will. 2. I do understand the growing pains of this and though Ive liked Apple and have used their products since I was a kid I do agree some of their reasonings for changes are a bit transparent (especially since Steve Jobs has passed). However all these companies goal is TO MAKE MONEY. If you think HTC is better cause they dont enforce a new headphone jack on you its cause theyre enforcing something else on you TO MAKE MONEY. ..and one last point here...we all want cooler stuff, better stuff but when the prospect of that happens all we do is complain cause it doesnt fit with the now. Thats the point. New stuff requires change. Its up to the consumer whether or not you want that change. My grandpa still mails his bills in. He decided at some point he had enough change. Totally his prerogative. Maybe a little open mind-ness and forward thinking with the realization all this stuff has potential to be nicer, better, more reliable and cooler with a bit of acceptance of change we may actually end up with better technology at our fingertips. We should be so lucky to have these choices folks...
