I think the reason why the purge and purge 2 have connected so much with the American people Is because the direction of America has taken over the last decade could quite realistically lead to such a situation. It is becoming the norm for our country to choose mans rationalism over Gods morality. Many call it being progressive but really its just choosing what seems right to man over what God has said. If there are enough statistics to show that the purge would actually reduce crime and make America safer place, I cant help but believe that there would be many people who would agree with the notion even though it is murder. Again mans rationality over Gods morality. It is also very interesting the use of God in the movie. They pray and they invoke his name while at the same time ignoring his laws. It is a perfect example of the same kind of theistic rationalism that the original forefathers of this country built this nation on.
