I usually stay away from Heated situations like this because I am not one to offend someone for their beliefs... BUT With everything going on, I believe that whichever side you are on as to the tragic loss of this young mans life (if you believe it was justified or unjustified), you are doing yourself an injustice before gaining ALL of the facts and pertinent information in regards to this event. There is ALWAYS side A... side B... And then there is the ACTUAL TRUTH (which we dont know because we were not there) As a police officer you are trained that to ACT instead of REACT in dangerous situations, as that could be the difference in you going home to your loved ones or going to a hospital/morgue... As police officers You often have to make split decisions that can change the course of your life or the person(s) life permanently. It is MY belief that this tragedy should not be solely about race!! THIS IS NOT A RACE SITUATION!!! This officer responded to a LEGITIMATE CALL OF A ROBBERY IN PROGRESS. The question should be, Was this Excessive Use of Force or was the shooting justified??? If this officer did have a physical altercation w this young man that resulted in a struggle for his firearm, then at that point it is a decision the officer must make as to if he is in REASONABLE fear for his life... The ONLY person who can articulate if he was in fear for his life would be THAT OFFICER. What if the officer had lost his gun and it was used against him?? Then what?? Are there riots and protests for him? what are the headlines then? The media has done despicable and irresponsible reporting since the onset of this and should be charged w a crime for their cause of these riots. In closing, I am ALL FOR peaceful protesting for what you believe in... But rioting/looting/vandalizing the same community that this young man was killed in... What message are you really sending??! Your tearing up YOUR OWN sh**?!!
