I want to be the best at everything, obviously this is unrealistic. That being said I don’t pretend to be a something I am not. I don’t pretend to be an Olympic Weightlifting Coach. I am Crossfit Coach and a pretty darn good one at that. Like most of you, my first real exposure to Olympic Weightlifting was through Crossfit. Since that time I have been studying, reading, and learning all I can, in effort to become the best coach I can be. It is a long process but one I truly enjoy. Here is recent video of my snatch at 140lbs. Here is what I see.... Fault 1) Butt and hip raises first, lower the angle of my torso related to the floor. Correction 1) Shoulders and hips should rise together, so that the angle of my torso remains the same up til the bar passes my knees. Fault 2) Knees come forward too soon, shifting my weight into my toes. Correction 2) Push my knee back, keeping the weight in my heals longer. Fault 3) Hips are extending in more horizontal motion, propelling my body and the bar forward. Correction 3) Hip and leg extension should be in more vertical direction, propelling bar upward.
