I was talking to a co-worker at work to day who says hes a Christian. Said he use to go to a Baptist church and left. He goes to one of those churches now that has a band, and the platform the preacher stands on is a stage with colorful lights etc. I told him that church is multi-purpose. We are their for worship and praise, fellowship with other believers, taught sound doctrine to equip saints to go out into their own mission fields. He seemed to be very big on drawing in people no matter what with the music etc. That doctrine was secondary and people would leave if you bore them. Thoughts on the whole grow church, get people in the door so they can get the Gospel preached with doctrine lite each Sunday? He said that if people wanted more in depth teaching they can go to one of their Sunday schools or other things that go on during the week.
