I wish you all a very happy and HEALTHY New Year! I am in stage 5 kidney failure, and Ive been on the dreaded dialysis since July. I am hoping for a kidney transplant as soon as possible, and have some hope that I will be able to receive one soon, so that I may return to a more normal and far less stressful way of life. This post is in the form of both information for you, and a request to basically spread the word for Organ Donation. I have allied myself with a wonderful organization called Renewal, which closely advises altruistic donors on the process, steps and requirements of becoming an altruistic organ donor, and then matching suitable candidates with patients in need of a donation. They are affiliated with many hospitals nationwide, including in the New York area: New York Presbyterian (Weill Cornell) (my hospital), Montefiore and Mt. Sinai, just to name a few, and they plan on expanding their affiliations within Canada. You can check them out at life-renewal.org. I am currently in the process of being vetted to get on their waiting list for a match with a suitable altruistic donor. Please share this post with everyone on your list in order for the word about this wonderful organization to get out, and please pray to whatever higher power you may believe in, or just keep fingers crossed for 2015 to be the year for my transplant.
