If you guys see this article, I want you to be advocates for acupuncture. This practitioner had learned acupuncture over a couple of weekends, while in WA state it is a RIGOROUS graduate program. We learn from the get go what the worse possible outcomes are, and are trained how to be aware and exceedingly careful. In the case of a pneumothorax the needles have to be inserted VERY deeply, either at the top of the shoulders, or along the rib cage. This is more likely to happen in people who are very small, or the young or elderly who have minimal muscle mass in those areas. For that reason I am careful to choose other points to avoid just these results. Thank you for reading this, and being an advocate for acupuncture - in the hands of professionals.
