If you like conjunctions there’s a lovely one this evening in our skies! The planet Venus and Antares the brightest star in the constellation of Scorpius have a separation of just over 1½º at 19:30. The two should be easily spotted as early as 18:30, look 40º above the western horizon, the brighter of the pair is brilliant white Venus while the star Antares shines a dull red. Mercury and Saturn are below the duo but darkish skies (minimum light pollution) and a clear view to the horizon is needed to spot them.
