Im genuinely convinced cancer awareness marathons and the like are tools used by rich assholes exploiting boundless human compassion and equally boundless need for social validation. They rarely pass givewell.org/s recommendations for charities that arent making CEOs insanely wealthy. And yet people keep doing them because were helpless? Powerless? Trapped? Whats going on? These charities are literally what I would consider monsters.
