Im sure everyone knows that I made a Top 10 of my very own for Best Motion Capture Performances. Well, today, WatchMojo has posted one, too. And guess what? Nearly all of my choices made it onto their list, but with different placings. Their list includes: 10 - Benedict Cumberbatch - Smaug - The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) (I placed him at #5) 9 - Bill Nighy - Davy Jones - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest (2006) and Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007) (I placed him at #4) 8 - Andy Serkis - King Kong - King Kong (2005) (I placed him at #6) 7 - Jim Carrey - Ebeneezer Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come - A Christmas Carol (2009) (I placed him at #7 as well! Ha-ha! Im a genius predictor!) 6 - Toby Jones - Dobby - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) (I didnt know Dobby was motion-captured; he didnt look motion-captured to me. Because of that, he wasnt on my list) 5 - Alan Tudyk – Sonny – I. Robot (2004) 4 - Andy Serkis - Captain Hammock - The Adventures of Tintin (2011) (The only Serkis performance I didnt put on my list. Now that I mention it, Im giving this Serkis performance an honorable mention on my list) 3 - Zoe Saldana - Neytiri - Avatar (2009) 2 - Andy Serkis - Caesar - Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) (I placed him at #1) 1 - Andy Serkis - Gollum - The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-2003) and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) (I placed him at #2) Their honorable mentions go to: Seth MacFarlane - Ted - Ted (2012) (I placed him at #10) Mark Ruffalo - The Hulk - The Avengers (2012) (I placed him at #9) Arnold Vosloo - Imhotop in his skeleton form - The Mummy (1999) Doug Jones - Silver Surfer - Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) Eight of my choices made it onto their list; but that means Crispin Glover as Grendel from Beowulf and Toby Kebbell as Koba from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes are no-shows. My top two Andy Serkis roles made it onto their list, but with the roles switched around, Gollum #1 and Caesar #2, while I had Gollum #2 and Caesar as #1.
