In 2012 the Irish tax payer spent €13.6 Billion in government money on their Health Service. This does not include health insurance payments of thousands a year, €50 a go to see the GP, €110 to go to casualty, €75 per night in hospital and maximum of €1440 a year on prescriptions. In Scotland (same population) they spent €15 Billion (£11.9 Billion). GP visits = free. Casualty=free. Hospitals=free. Prescriptions=free (it was €4) We can afford an NHS in Ireland. In fact it would save us a fortune. We just choose not to have one. Why?
