Its never too early to discover that no matter how cynical you may be, it is simply not enough. Nick Kristof always seemed to me to be trying too hard - trying to make his readers cry. Im not happy that I resisted being swept away by the unrelenting parade of horrors he wanted his readers to agonize over, it was always just a bit too operatic for me. Turns out, it was mostly opera - he was happy to peddle well packaged bullshit as long as another Pulitzer might be just around the corner. At least he is writing for the right paper, The Times never apologized for Walter Duranty and he still has a Pulitzer for all the lies he wrote about Stalin.
