Its no coincidence that the majority of disc herniations are at l4 l5 s1....the segments of the spine made for stability not movement. Why would you bend and twist something (lower back) that is made to stop movement?? An example of this is how many golfers have lower back pain because they use their lower back to wind up and produce force instead of using their hips! FWIW the lumbar spine produces about 5 degrees of rotation... the thoracic spine (mid back) can produce 35 degrees.
