Its so interesting, Ive seen two articles on street signs for disabled kids in the past two days. This after I saw a street sign that said Deaf Child just this weekend I hadnt thought of that, I dont know why. Jeremiah (Autism) doesnt understand danger at all. We keep doors locked, but accidents happen and Im concerned if he were to walk into the street. I also feel it would let the neighborhood know he has Autism in case they ever found him wandering. The family in the video below is fighting to get a street sign that says, Caution: Autistic Child. However, the Autism Society says that they are concerned about these signs causing more harm than good because theyd be a calling card for predators that prey on disabled kids. Our son is always with us, but there could be that rare occasion he escapes (Autistic kids are known to wander without recognizing the danger). He has escaped from another home which will rename unnamed more than a few times. What do you think? Would you want a street sign if your child had Autism?
