• It’s possible Don Barclay will line up with the No. 1 offense at right tackle ahead of Marshall Newhouse. Barclay drew praise from coach Mike McCarthy for his performance last week against Arizona and is gunning for the job that he held for the final six games last season. The pressure will also be on rookie left tackle David Bakhtiari to perform in a hostile environment. Rams defensive ends Chris Long and Robert Quinn combined for 22 sacks last season, so protecting Aaron Rodgers will be paramount. • Since a shaky Family Night outing, kicker Mason Crosby has drilled 20 of 22 field goal attempts (90.9 percent) during training camp practices and appears to have found his groove. But his chief competitor, street free agent Giorgio Tavecchio, has connected on 21 of 22 field goals (95.5 percent) during that span. For all competitive kicks in camp, Tavecchio is 37 of 41 (90.2 percent) and Crosby 32 of 41 (78.0 percent). Neither attempted a field goal in the Packers’ 17-0 preseason loss to Arizona last week. They are expected to share kicking duties against the Rams. • Vince Young continues to learn the offense and will try to make a run at Graham Harrell for the backup quarterback job. Young has looked rusty and inconsistent, which isn’t surprising for a player who was signed more than a week into training camp. But Harrell’s subpar performance against Arizona last week may have opened the door for Young. If he turns in a strong performance against the Rams, the No. 2 job might be Young’s to keep. Coach Mike McCarthy said he would try to play all four quarterbacks, but Young could receive an extensive look.
