I’m back at work with my favorite poi partner, Morgan Howe, - TopicsExpress

I’m back at work with my favorite poi partner, Morgan Howe, carving out a framework for describing the different types of partner weaves. We discovered when we set down to try and figure out the slides and turns for each of these different weaves that there wasn’t a good way to describe them all. Here is the system we worked out for talking about them: we have two qualities of body movement and two qualities of arm movement that can be combined in up to four ways. When it comes to body movement, some weaves require the body to lean back and forth while others require the body to stay in place—we refer to these two types as dynamic and static. Also, the arms can be oriented with one hand over and one under your partner’s arms or they can both be on the same side of your partner’s arms—the former we refer to as split and the latter as same. Thus, the four combinations are dynamic split (personal split-opp), dynamic same (personal tog-same), static same (personal tog-opp), static split (person split-same). drexfactor/support
