I’m not sure I completely understand this article but if I do it looks like they have found small molecules in a mouse model that can be given orally that will alter the splicing of pre-mRNA to produce a stable full-length protein. There are two very cool things going on. 1) This could lead to a therapy to help with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. 2) Finding a small molecule that can selectively effect RNA and protein synthesis that can be taken orally seems like a milestone to me.
