James A. Garfield… “Wherever the path of duty and honor may lead, however steep and rugged it may be, we must be ready to walk it.” What a challenge to a society. We are taught by many examples that to be successful, get ahead, reach our goals and fulfill our dreams is the ultimate attainment. (This is true if our goals include the overall improvement of community.) However, individually we are only a small dot on the demographic map of our community. Duty and honor have little to do with the achievements of an individual, but rather, embracing the idea of creating and maintaining safety, well-being and opportunity for all.
