Associate Engineer-System Performance (Net) AK-635 W 40th Ave-Anchorage 99503 6 Months Contract VZWJP00050053 Verizon Wireless Description Responsible for collecting and using hourly and daily service measurement data to optimize the network and reduce lost calls and ineffective attempts; creating new cell site translations and neighbor lists in support of regional build program activity; and supporting System Performance and RF Engineers in evaluating and improving areas of poor coverage by identifying system performance problems (dropped calls, static, interference). Other responsibilities: reporting problems to appropriate engineers; resolving customer service issues; and assisting in implementing solutions; collecting drive test data in support of performance evaluations and build program prioritization; troubleshooting and resolving customer complaints and trouble tickets; creating maps for network optimization and planning; and conducting special engineering studies (PLMs, RF Call Trace). BS in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience required 2+ years of experience in the cellular or telecommunications’ industry. General understanding and or working knowledge in one or more of the following platforms and/or technologies: Voice cells infrastructure including: Lucent, Motorola, Nortel, CDMA data Digital Communications including: DS1, DS3, Fiber, ISDN Operating systems and applications including: UNIX, Windows, MS Office Wireless data service including: CDPD, CDMA, CSD, STP, RF Fingerprinting Analog, CDMA, Flexent Modular cells (CDMA & PCS), RMT software, and 3G technology Test equipment including: T-Birds, DataPro, pilot scanners, baseline equipment, spectrum analyzers RF System Optimization techniques for voice and data for Nortel, Motorola, and/or Lucent infrastructure Should have a good understanding of engineering concepts, and must show aptitude and desire to learn and advance in a technical field.
