Last Child in the Woods: Saving our Children from Nature Deficit - TopicsExpress

Last Child in the Woods: Saving our Children from Nature Deficit Disorder (NDD) has spurred a national dialogue among educators, health professionals, parents, developers and conservationists. This is a book that will change the way you think about your future and the future of your children. In this influential work about the staggering divide between children and the outdoors, child advocacy expert Richard Louv directly links the lack of nature in the lives of todays wired generation—he calls it nature-deficit—to some of the most disturbing childhood trends, such as the rises in obesity, attention disorders, and depression. Today I read a copy of the Business Week as I waited for some one at one Tour Company, one guest writer wrote this: Surprisingly Ugandans for the past five years have been the largest number of visitors into Kenyas National Parks!!! With most of our Lodges offering great discounts for Ugandans and Foreign residents living in Uganda this is shocking and really absurd!!! Why do we as Ugandans shy away from taking a holiday in our so beautiful country and opt for our neighbors yet we have more to offer? Again why do most Ugandans never take a holiday at all? This lady also in the business Week also indicated that a human body needs 72 hrs in pure fresh air to give the Lungs and Blood stream a chance to Clear and cleanse all the toxins we ingest or inhale from our polluted work places!! This you can only get mostly by taking a Holiday to a pollution free destination like places near rain forests or national Parks!!!!! When did you last take a holiday in Uganda and when are you going to get one?
