Linda Cox So, the government is considering cutting - TopicsExpress

Linda Cox So, the government is considering cutting work-related ESA (WRAG) down to Jobseekers level. The current WRAG allowance is £101 per week and Jobseekers is £72. They state that this is not policy... yet, but when the general public start excitedly wetting their pants over more cuts for people on benefits - cue more media manipulation against this group of claimants - theyll sure as hell go ahead with it. Remember, the fitness for work tests are failing, placing very sick people into this category, IF they even manage to be assessed into this group at all and not placed in the dole queue and set up to fail the strict jobsearch regime and be sanctioned. WRAG is for people who may at some stage in the foreseeable future, be fit for full time, permanent work. This is recognising at least, that they currently have a disability. They are offered training courses and work-related activities, supposedly if theyre well enough, although we know they are forcing people onto these schemes with threats of sanctions. Is it too much to ask that this section of society is provided for? Disability costs. It never stops costing. Its a captive market where disabled people pay through the nose for things they MUST have. These things are not free either. So many cuts to the NHS have affected what can be provided/hired free of charge now. Despite IDSs claim that we pay more to our disabled citizens than the rest of Europe - he lied, this has been shown to be wrong. Again. Im fed up with hearing about rent/council tax and prescriptions being free for people on benefits. This is NOT always the case, especially with contribution based payments. Also take into consideration that people are regularly sanctioned and left with ZERO income, they also have to now pay up to 30% of their Council Tax and up to 25% Bedroom Tax. A roof over your head is NOT guaranteed. Household bills and food have NEVER been paid for you on benefits, Im fed up with hearing that one, too. Okay, youre working like a slave for a pittance. Its time we stopped blaming those at the very bottom for that. Divide and rule is getting a bit old now and its time we opened our eyes and pointed our fingers at those at the top - where the blame really lies. Still no more spent on catching the tax fraud or capping MPs expenses, but the latest grass on your mate campaign by the Coalition is costing £1m to implement. Look at the big picture. Is it really going to improve your lifestyle if disabled people suffer more cuts to their income? Wouldnt you rather push for a better working wage and a stronger, more efficient infrastructure? Its time to leave disabled people alone to get on with their already challenging lives. Love & Peace
