Lumka Oliphant raises a point about how New Yorkers dress skimpily during Summer. My take is this, the Winters are so unforgiving in their cold ness so when Summer comes you literally take it out, all of it old ,young, biggish...size 0. My 2nd take is this: people who live in New York come from all over the world, there is no sense of allegiance to being appropriate in the sense of the places where you come from. i know that some of the outfits I wore there(almost ntsula out) would be deemed inappropriate in PE or e Qonce. There would be nasty remarks made about how dare. So I can deduce that Bigger Cosmopolitan cities tend to take away the shame associated with certain behaviours, e.g a girl smoking in Hillbrow in the early 90s as well as the Melrose Arch Type is a normal activity. i wouldnt bat an eye.Mixed couples and gay couples kissing during the day in a New York City are not an issue yet e Qonce or in the little pleks would cause a small stampede. So my take is that living in big cities allows you to explore to your limits. There are no social codes and no one judges because most people are busy doing their thing. The sAd Thing Is When You Have To Come Back, fold and fit yourselves to fit your new environment. It has its challenges when you insist that lets go out its still very early (midnight) then people look at you like you have a loose screw in your head.
