***MAJOR COLD COMING THIS WEEK*** Good evening everyone. It is looking increasingly likely that yet another prolonged cold outbreak affects the area starting Tuesday. After highs in the upper-40s to maybe even upper-50s tomorrow, a cold front will push through the area by mid-morning Tuesday bringing a chance of snow showers/flurries with its passage and a period of snow for the regions NW of the ridgeline as incoming cold air squeezes all the moisture out. Behind the front temperatures will PLUMMET, with lows on Wednesday falling into the teens for the entire area. Current modeling suggests we may not make it back above freezing (especially for the mountains and immediate surrounding areas) until Saturday thanks to another front due in Thursday. Depending on the timing of this front areas we could briefly break into the mid/upper-30s Thursday before falling back into the teens and maybe some upper single digits by Friday morning. This could cause some major issues on water pipes so if you havent already make sure to insulate your water pipes and check the antifreeze in your car. While we wont get close to or below zero like we did during the last outbreak, this extended period of below-freezing temps will still cause issues. In addition, wind chill values Tuesday night and Wednesday morning will probably dip below zero slightly so be prepared to bundle up when you head to work/school. Ill be watching this potential as we head through the next couple of days and keep you updated.
