Many of you may not know this but Im a huge history buff! Its a lot of the reason I love West Virginia so much. Last night I got to experience one of the coolest things ever thanks to Tamsyn Hall! Down here there sits a big old White House with pastures and tons of old big white barns and buildings. As a child I always was drawn to this house, I would imagine it in the old days and would always wonder what it looked like inside. Well yesterday i got to put that wonder to rest! It was owned by Brown Beard & then left to his daughter Miss Jessie Brown Beard until she passed last year at 98 years old. She passed in the same room she was born in... So cool right!!!! As I walked up on the steps I saw the sign and realized I was standing on the steps where Camp Bartow took place. (If you dont know what that is please look it up), I then learned that I was standing in the same place Robert E. Lee & Abraham Lincoln had stayed. There is a beautiful well out back, I then learned that those buildings in the back were a corn crib, a barn and the last was a slave house. As you look up from that house you can see on the hill an American flag & a confederate flag flying, up there sits a confederate cemetery from the civil war. Also in on the barns is a horse buggy carriage & a stroller from back in those days. I go back inside & you wouldnt believe the things I saw! A first edition Charles Dickens series, a top hat from the 1860s, lamps from the 30s, pianos, old phones, old serving sets, a scale from the 1800s, a victrolous record player in mint condition, tons of old pictures, spectacles,a Thomas Edison camera and so much more Ill take many pictures today but here is a sneak peak❤️
