Thanks John Animal Centre Manager Job Description: Animal Care Assistant Job Information Post: Animal Care Assistant (Part Time 20hrs per week) Employer: RSPCA Preston and District Branch, Preston Animal Centre, Ribbleton Avenue, Preston Hours: Working on a roster 20 hours per week plus up to two sleepovers per week if required. Responsible to: Animal Centre Manager Overall Purpose of the job To provide care for the animals in the centre and to maintain good customer relations. Specific responsibilities • To clean, disinfect and maintain to a standard of cleanliness the animal accommodation, isolation and exercise areas, food preparation, laundry, storage and treatment facilities. • To carry out checks on animals, including the inspection of eyes, ear, nose and throat for signs of infection or abnormality, reporting any concerns to a manager. • To prepare and provide food and water for all animals in the centre. • To assist with the inspection and or treatment of animals by a veterinary surgeon at the centre. • To attend to the needs of individual animals, including exercise, coat care/grooming, administration of first aid, treatments and medications as directed. • The implanting of microchips and completion of microchip records. • To attend to the needs of customers and to liaise with colleagues and volunteers. • To maintain/monitor daily animal records and general administrative duties. • To cover up to two overnight duties each week if required. • To undertake other duties as required by the Animal Centre Manager. General • The post holder will be required to complete the Society Standard Procedures. • The post holder may need to drive the branch vehicle on Society business as directed by the Animal Centre Manager. • To attend meetings and training courses as required. • To participate in fund-raising or publicity events as the branch may require. • To follow the branch’s re homing, euthanasia and other policies. • To undertake any other reasonable duties as may fall within the remit of the job as requested by the Animal Centre Manager.
