Many shy away from the term nationalism because of the negative connotations they perceive it carries. Lets forget these negative connotations and reconceptualise nationalism from an Indigenous perspective. If we as Indigenous peoples talk of our selves as NATIONS, then we talk of our NATIONHOOD, and this manifests in our NATIONALISM. If you believe in Aboriginal control of Aboriginal affairs, youre an Aboriginal nationalist. If you believe in Aboriginal land rights and responsibilities, youre an Aboriginal nationalist. If you agree with the concept of an Aboriginal passport, youre an Aboriginal nationalist. If you refuse to vote in Australian elections on the basis that you arent Australian, youre an Aboriginal nationalist. #AboriginalTermsOfReference #AboriginalNationalism
