MetroNews Morning News Headlines: St. Albans Police are treating the death of a man found in the city park Tuesday as a homicide. The body of 20-year-old Micah Burdette was discovered by some hikers. Investigators are not releasing the cause of death. They are asking anyone with information into case to call police. A Maryland father and son are in jail after allegedly breaking into a Martinsburg home and beating the owner with a baseball bat. It happened Tuesday. Robert Friers, Jr, 55, and Robert Friers III, 28, are facing felony burglary and more charges are expected to be filed. According to police, the Friers knew their victim and claimed they were avenging a previous domestic dispute. The victim was not seriously injured. Legislative leaders are questioning how the state Department of Environmental Protection is moving forward with the implementation of registration and inspection requirements within the Above Ground Storage Tank Act. The DEPs proposed interpretive rule, which will expire next July, is now out for a 30-day comment period. A public hearing is scheduled for Oct. 9 at the DEP headquarters in Charleston. Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark Plants has been barred from any contact with his children. That decision came down on Wednesday. The father of two is facing two domestic related charges, one for allegedly beating his 11-year-old son with a belt that left marks. Plants agreed to enter a domestic violence program in Putnam County. But then requested a trial on the two misdemeanor charges to speed up the process. Because of that he can have no contact with his sons until after his trial set for next spring. Plants calls that just wrong.
