On hearing a rough mix that accompanied all the parts to the epic new track from Metroland I must admit I thought to myself What can I add to this fantastic track? My first attempt was very safe and on reflection was very similar to the original. It was then that Passenger S and Passenger A said that they want a Jonteknik version! I love the rhythmic part of the middle section so I began by layering more sounds on that, getting the feel of how I heard Thalys in my head. By chance I stumbled upon quite a hard-sounding synth sound which fell into the track perfectly. It now had a nice weight to it, thinking about trains and the environment through which they travel I now needed a little melody which, to me, represented the speeding from city to city. Again, I played around with sounds and soon had something which gave a nod towards the godfathers of electronic music, something myself and Metroland would have no shame in doing! There was a lot of great material to work with which always helps with laying a foundation for a great remix project. After Metroland gave me that push to just have fun and do my own thing I am very proud of creating something I hope compliments the original version as well as giving a new perspective on it.
