Must update Cindy Peters on the status of her foster baby Katie Mae. Katie Mae & her Chihuahua mix sister Belle (in the t shirt) had a really hard day at the vet. Belle had a dental, a tooth pulled & a skin tag cut off with about 7 staples (shes had a mast cell tumor in the past, so really wide margins.) Katie Mae got to meet Dr. Pollard this afternoon & after about a bazillion immunizations, a blood draw, & probes which proper Southern Basset Belles do not discuss, shes exhausted. Katie Mae has ear infections. :( But, luckily we are really good at Basset ear issues thanks to Lacey, so its no problem. She has a few lumps which will be removed at her dental next Friday. She has a bit of decay & exposed pulp. Dr. Pollard said she obviously chewed on some sort of metal (most likely crate bars) for a long time as many of her teeth are worn almost completely down & she will definitely have some extractions. That makes me so sad. Her hot spot is getting better. It had an infected sebaceous cyst which was drained, so thats why she was chewing it. I made sure Katie Mae was aware that Dr. Pollard was the mean lady doing all of the sticking & probing. I even spelled her name for Katie. I know shell remember because she is very smart. We are so grateful to BHRG, Cindy Peters & Beth Gomez for caring for this amazing girl. She is love on 4 legs and we are so lucky she adopted us.
