My facebook Wall is full of statuses of last CAT exam , so last year on 12th Oct , 2013, I too wrote my last CAT exam and after writing I posted this, sharing with all of you...:) ******MIXED FEELINGS****** I finally wrote my last CAT exam of my VIT life, I am suddenly feeling that my engineering is finally coming to an end, albeit have been suffering for 4.5 years now because of it, it feels nice to know that finally the misery will be over. I never was and never will be a guy who can become even a 8.5 pointer, have found these exams too hot to handle( I sometimes say to myself rahul beta tumse yeh engineering na ho payga), but if my teachers pass me I will be all done. In my first semester I had simply skipped my first CAT exams thinking that WTH, nothing is gonna happen if i lose 15 marks, but after 4 months realized a lot can happen, and since then have been trying to keep those kinda feelings at bay. Feeling a bit emotional, hmmmm, no actually a bit sleepy, so will finish this post quickly! Have given so many exams over the last 9 semesters, that I have started considering myself an expert in writing exams, so here is what all I have learned(non course stuff) over the last 9 semesters:- 1)It doesnt matter if you study/or think about studying beforehand, nothing is gonna happen, you have to study hard during the exam time, so relax before the exams, I dint study for more than 4 hours for any CAT exam in my life, and still managed to pass almost 80% of the times. 2)Always take a teacher who is lenient when it comes to giving marks, you will have a better chance of getting a decent grade. 3)Never leave the paper blank and walk off(have been guilty of doing this a lot of times and this thing hit me hard), its better to get 3 marks also instead of 0, sometimes these marks can prevent you from getting a F grade. 4)Teachers look for real stuff, teachers dont award marks for stories, well this is true only for 20% of times, have seen people writing movie stories in their papers and getting decent marks, well it depends on the teachers mood too , but majority of them wont give you 0 if you have written 1-2 pages. 5)If you dont know anything in the paper, then write whatever you know regarding the subject, have seen some teachers giving marks by seeing that the student knows at least something. 6)A decent CGPA is required to get a decent job, but I will suggest you guys to also try to be a decent person who is loved and adored by everyone, you will come across a 1000 9 pointers in VIT, but you will not find a single person who will exactly like you, so try to make yourself a person who is special in his own way! 7)Something non academic:- I wont say one should run after success or perfection, will just recommend you to do what you like and do that in a way that no one can match you style! ^^^^All the above points are only valid for >8 pointers, in case you are a 9 pointer, I am extremely sorry for wasting your precious time! ~rahul manglik
