My letter to Imran Khan : Dear Khan Sahb, I am a practicing - TopicsExpress

My letter to Imran Khan : Dear Khan Sahb, I am a practicing lawyer and have been a supporter of PTI before, during and after the elections of 2013. I was happy that PTI managed to get a few seats in the National Assembly but also upset that PTI missed out on some seats due to rigging at some polling stations, which if reversed would still not change the fate of having Nawaz Shareef as the elected Prime Minister. I was happy that PTI had made progress and now had a say in the Parliament and also formed the KPK government because now my political party had a chance to show to the people what they are capable of doing with honesty and integrity and also would be continuously highlighting the wrongdoings of the ruling party. I then thought that the fact that my party had lost on some seats on account of rigging may actually be a blessing in disguise as this would be helpful in the next elections in which my party could get majority seats and form the government, as PTI would be working in KPK and showing results and at the same time speaking the truth and highlighting the wrong doings of the ruling party and the sympathy of the rigging of last election would also be with my party. Khan Sahb, you have always voiced peace, law and justice to be the foundation of your party. You always fought for democracy and you were paramount in reinstating the CJ. You always appeared to be honest and a man of his word and these were the reasons why PTI was my party. In a little over one year, you got impatient and perhaps felt (or were advised) that you cant wait for another 3 years so lets just do something now. But you thought that going the legal way will delay things so lets just take the advantage of Moulana TUQ and join hands with him. You then advised your followers to break every law possible, you told them not to pay taxes, you told them not pay utility bills, you told them to quit jobs, you told everyone to get prepared as you march into the Prime minister house. You wanted the PM resignation even if it was for a month. You came on TV everyday and used uncouth language for the elected prime minister and everyday was supposedly the last day in the office for the PM. The government in spite of the illegality of your demands agreed to appoint Supreme Court judges of your choice and also agreed to step down if found guilty of rigging, but this became an ego issue for you and you got excited that all TV channels were covering your speech on prime time and boldly stated that its either death or resignation of PM. In the last few weeks, you have done everything that you and PTI stood against. You complain that the ruling party have snatched and hijacked the country from the people and now you want to do the same and that too without the support of the people of Pakistan. Atleast PML (N) had the numbers in spite of my not voting for them. (and if you think you have the numbers you are mistaken... cause no one has stopped paying taxes or utility bills including those standing on the caravan with you) and the numbers at your dharnas certainly do not represent the Awaam. Altaf Bhai could get 5 times the number with one phone call. And then you said you will walk ahead when barging towards the prime minister house but instead not only were you not to be seen but even your supporters went behind TUQ supporters, but that was because you were not prepared but claimed to be fully prepared the next day and sure enough PTV was taken over only later when the feedback of such takeover was not good, you announced that those people were not yours. The elected president of your party whom you have respected and admired has also shared a few things with the people and that has also shaken my confidence in you. You have taken so many U turns that I really dont know if I can trust you and Im afraid I cannot call PTI my party anymore. Im saddened because I was truly looking towards you to give my a Naya Pakistan but the picture you have showed me and the way you want to proceed is extremely scary as it seems you will only do what you think is right and you will decide what is legal or illegal on your own and who is corrupt and who is not and you just cannot see that the Aawam is not supporting you in the way you want to get Naya Pakistan. As a member of this Aawam, I humbly request you to swallow your ego, show some performance in KPK, keep voicing injustices of the government and get your electoral reforms and lastly compensate the country for the losses suffered on account of your recent acts. If you can do that successfully then you are the same leader that I thought you were and PTI will be my party again. With regards and prayers for a safer and peaceful Pakistan where everyone respects the law. Arshad Tayebaly.
