My report about Blue October concert at A2 club, 8.11.2013, Saint-Peterburg I’m a fresh “blood” in Blue fandom and discovered this group through Twilight fandom, that’s why this concert meant a lot to me, damn – it was like I had come full circle and had two dreams come true! Unfortunately, all Meet&Greet stuff as well as band’s member names I had to find after the gig. Nevertheless, I was given a lot and far more meaningful for me than scarves, set-lists, drumsticks and mediator’s rain at the concert. I felt unbelievable drive. I came unprepared, knew just a few “classics” songs like Say it, Congratulations, trademark Hate it and Sound of pulling Heaven’s down (which I also wish to be performed alive). It didn’t hinder me to scream and sing – often out of turn – compositions from new and other albums, though. It’s been well said that ignorance is bliss. That was exactly my case, ‘cos I came to the concert sans expectations which allowed powerful, wild, sometimes rough yet sincere energy outburst took down all my bound, screwed and built conceptions about Blue October’s music; my mind was left in ruins of happiness of a hardcore fan. It seemed like I was a priest on receiving end of a confession, which followed by making love with a friend in water (I know it sounds strange). The intimacy, flowing from one melody to another; hoarse, heart-rending Justine’s voice – especially in the end of each song – was tugging all rights chords in my soul… It was raw, unbridled ecstasy! And what’s more – I got to dance and it was better than dancing in typical clubs and to dj’s song covers me used to. I never imagined that I could dance at rock concert and it would be more than make-a-corna-shake-your-head-kick-your-neighbor-make-it-gang. These dance songs lacked of pop element, in fact it was good balance between the lyrics and melodies. Also, I was amazed by Ryan, “multifeatured musician” (I wish I had a chance to make a photo when he’s holding the guitar, the violin and playing the keyboards). Now, I know who I should thank for piercing violin solo in Hate it and Ugly side. I was glad who Justin handled the crowd. It was very funny, vivid and hearty. But what is more important that I was lucky to share and experience these amazing moments with dear friend of mine. Now, we can proudly, gladly and delightfully Say it! ;)
