Navi Mumbai hospitals run workshops, gear up to tackle Ebola _______________________________ NAVI MUMBAI: Even though there have been no reported cases of the dreaded Ebola virus in Navi Mumbai, hospitals are ensuring that they are ready to combat any emergency. Dr Deepak Paropkari, civic chief health officer, said that corporation has received guidelines from the state government regarding Ebola. These guidelines will be passed on to hospitals and medical clinics, both civic and private, he said. P K Sashankar of MGM Hospital in Vashi said that the hospital has kept aside beds for sudden admissions. Jaibhoy Thomas, marketing head, Fortis Hiranandani Hospital in Vashi, said that the hospital held an orientation workshop for the nursing staff and has beds in the ICU and MICU for patients with contagious diseases. Dr Akshay Chhallani, intensivist and physician, Sterling Wockhardt Hospital, said they will be closely examining any patients who come in from Western or South Africa. We are taking utmost precautions, he said. Dr Ruchika Sood, marketing consultant at Sai Snehdeep Hospital in Koparkhairane, said that even though no cases have been detected, the paramedics at the hospital have been briefed and the staff have been briefed about the virus.
