I retired from active DJing late last year in order to start a new career. I am now settled into the new job and am looking at ways to stay in touch with the entertainment scene just in case I should ever get the opportunity to return to it part time. So, I am offering my services as an expert roadie / lighting jock / driver / kit lugger / DMX lighting programmer / equipment babysitter / request taker / drunk interceptor / abuse taker and anything else you can use me for! I started out as a roadie 12 years ago at the age of 14 for a large mobile disco. I was working and learning with that company for about 3 years before I started buying my own kit and doing gigs! I built up a wealth of experience and established a profitable full time business. I carried out all sorts of gigs including a stint on a cruise ship, strip clubs, nightclubs, high end weddings, proms, corporate events, store openings, birthdays and just about anything else you can think of! Just before retiring from actively DJing I was working for various agencies across the south east at venues ranging from small village halls through to all the big hotel chains and some really nice establishments (my final gig was in the Penthouse Suite at The Mayfair Hotel, London). I guess the point of this blurb is to demonstrate that I am a professional individual and know how to conduct myself in all situations and surroundings. I have worked for several of the industries leading professionals, many of whom can be found on this very forum and Im sure would be happy to give me a testimonial if requested. I will attend your gigs in appropriate clothing of your choice. Im happy to wear your branded clothing or provide my own stage blacks and smart evening wear. I am always on time and well groomed for all functions. I wont drink (apart from soft drinks!) or raid the buffet or even try and chat up the bridesmaids whilst working for you! I am able to assist as much or as little as you require, from simply carrying a few flight cases to rigging and wiring up a full set up and then controlling the light show and taking requests throughout the night. I am experienced in programming DMX lighting (Daslight and MyDMX) so would be happy to build shows for the venue we were working in on the fly. I can mix and use a mic if required, so when nature calls you wont have to rely on automix to get you through! Ive experience of driving vans and trailers, from small astra vans up to large luton style vans and everything in between. Im 25 years old, so if you wanted to add me to your insurance it shouldnt be too expensive. I also live locally to a van hire place that I have a good relationship with and can provide a hire van from £30 upwards (standard wheel base transit is £40 a day). Im happy to take on one off jobs or commit to working with you on a regular basis. My day job rota is provided to me at least 3 months in advance so I am able to give plenty of notice of my availability. The important bit, my price!! You get me for the night for just..... £50 within 30 miles of Sittingbourne, Kent. That covers most standard gig hours, usually around 5pm till 2am. Any extra hours are negotiable and travel over 30 miles each way is calculated at 20p per mile return trip from my house at ME9 9DL. I am happy to meet you at the venue, at your base, somewhere on route to the venue, or to be collected from my house - whichever works out cheapest on fuel for you! I may be able to assist with doing full gigs if the kit is provided (I sold my system, but kept my decks and mixer). If this is something you would like to look at I am open to negotiations for prices. My new job is well paid so I wont be looking to make a fortune from this! Its more to keep me up to date on the current DJ scene.
