Need to Know: Camp countdown at two weeks Here is what you need to know on this Thursday, July 11, 14 days before the Redskins start training camp. Two weeks until training camp The countdown to training camp is rolling along and we’re two short weeks away from getting things rolling down at the brand new Bon Secours training center in Richmond. From what we saw there earlier this week, the field and the building will be ready. How about the team? We are at the status quo on the top question going into camp. When we last saw Robert Griffin III on June 11 he looked like a guy who would be ready to go when camp starts on July 25 or soon after that. We have heard nothing in the interim to make us think otherwise. Assuming that Griffin is ready to go physically there are still questions about his readiness to take his game to the next level. In 2012 he was able to take every first-team snap in OTAs and minicamp. We will see if the combination of film study, mental reps, and throwing uncovered passes to other injured offensive skill players he has been doing since April can get the job done. Don’t forget he probably won’t participate in every practice even if he is cleared so preparation is a legitimate question. Griffin is one of the few lingering injury-related question marks. From all reports it appears that Brian Orakpo, Brandon Meriweather, Fred Davis, Jordan Reed, Chris Thompson, and almost all of the others who suffered major injuries in 2012 and were unable to fully participate in the offseason program will be on the field and ready to go two weeks from today. The two exceptions are Adam Carriker and Jordan Bernstine. Carriker has said that he will start camp on the PUP list as he recovers from the torn quad in his right leg he suffered in Week 2. And Bernstine’s knee injury in the opener was quite severe and it will not be surprising if he is not ready to go.
